How to install the Zoom application on a laptop

Zoom on Windows: Easy Steps

Most people use Windows. Here's how to get Zoom:

Step 1: Get the Zoom Program

1. Open Chrome, Firefox, or whatever you use to browse the web. Go to https://zoom.us/download
2. Find "Zoom Meetings." Click "Download." The file "ZoomInstaller.exe" will start downloading.

Step 2: Run That File!

1. Find "ZoomInstaller.exe." It's probably in your "Downloads" folder.
2. Double-click it!
3. A box might pop up asking if it's okay to make changes. Click "Yes."

Step 3: Finish Up

1. The Zoom installer will pop up. Just click "Install."
2. It takes a minute or two.
3. Zoom should start automatically!

Step 4: Log In or Jump In

1. Got a Zoom account? Click "Sign In." Type in your email and password.
2. No account? Click "Sign Up Free" and follow the steps.
3. Just joining a meeting? Click "Join a Meeting." Type in the Meeting ID and Passcode. Your host should have sent these to you.

You did it! Zoom is now on your Windows computer.

Zoom on macOS (MacBooks, iMacs): Simple!

Got a Mac? Here's how to get Zoom running:

Step 1: Download the Zoom Program (Again)

1. Open Safari or Chrome (or whatever you use). Go to https://zoom.us/download
2. Find "Zoom Meetings." Click "Download." The file "Zoom.pkg" will download.

Step 2: Run the Installer

1. Find "Zoom.pkg" in your "Downloads" folder.
2. Double-click it.
3. A warning might pop up. Click "Open."

Step 3: Finish the Installation

1. Click "Continue" on each screen.
2. Then click "Install."
3. It might ask for your computer password.
4. Wait a minute or two.
5. Click "Close" when it's done.

Step 4: Sign In Time!

1. Find Zoom in your "Applications" folder and open it.
2. Sign in or join a meeting the same way as on Windows.

Zoom on Linux: A Little Different

Linux is a bit trickier. You might need Zoom's website for your specific version of Linux.

1. Sign in or join a meeting like on Windows/Mac.

You've got Zoom on Linux! If it doesn't work, check Zoom's website for your specific Linux version.

Help! It's Not Working!

Stuff happens. Here are some common problems:

• Installer Won't Run: Did you download the right file? Do you have permission to install things?
• Installation Froze: Close other programs. Restart your computer and try again.
• Zoom Won't Start: Maybe your firewall or antivirus is blocking it. Tell them Zoom is okay!
• Weird Error Messages: Google them! It's usually about something missing.

Make Zoom Run Smoothly

Got Zoom installed? Great! Now make it work its best:

• Update Zoom: New updates fix problems and add stuff.
