• Does it mean something? Does the story explore big ideas like love, loss, or justice? Then it's more likely to stay with you.
• Does it end well? The ending doesn't have to be perfect, but it should make sense. It should feel like the right ending for the story that was told.

Characters That Live in Your Head

Think about your favorite stories. What do they have in common? Chances are, they have amazing characters. Characters drive the story. They make us care. They're the reason we keep reading. So, how do you create characters like that?

Diving Deep Into Characters

It's not enough to just say what your character looks like. You need to dig deeper. You need to understand what makes them tick.

1. What's their story? Where did they come from? What happened to them? What are their defining moments?
